The time has arrived!
A few moons ago, Kid's club helped with the planting of vegetable starts for the Hunger Coalition. Finally, this week, the Wood River Community YMCA took our summer camp kids to the Hope Garden in Hailey to transplant starts that have been grown in Bonni's Garden.

Marie and Suzi have been monitoring the successes and failures of growing starts in the greenhouse. No marigolds germinated; and several of the pepper plants didn't come to the party, as well. However, there were PLENTY of Green Zebra tomato pole and Glacier tomato bush plants to transplant into the garden. The Italian Basil wasn't too bad to smell on the drive south, either!
Once the Y team arrived, Lynea and Megan kindly gave the kids rules to the follow in the Garden, along with an awesome tour! The kids were able to see the bees pollinating in action throughout the beans, peas, herbs, peppers, tomatillos, squash, and much more!

checking out the growing carrots!

Once the tour was over, Megan split us into groups to transplant basil, tomatoes, peppers, and plant more radish seeds all over the garden space.

It was an awesome morning, with a comfortable overcast sky and plenty of plants to go around! First field trip for kid's summer camp kicked off right.
